Today is International Women’s Day and I am proud to say that I am a woman.
Women are still undervalued in our culture and our contribution is often overlooked.
I grew up in a misogynistic environment where women were considered less valuable than men. In his memoirs, my grandfather placed greater value on his horse and dog than his wife. My father values us for our appearance and what we can do for him. Sadly, these attitudes are not uncommon, and I know many of you have experienced the same.
But our input is needed. Just as every piece is vital to complete a jigsaw, so we are vital to society. We are more than our appearance, have just as much to offer intellectually and our intuition is an untapped resource.
