I love food!

I love food!

I love food! Despite losing half my body weight, food remains one of the greatest joys in my life. But now I enjoy it in a different way.

Once a week I share an evening meal with close friends. We often have a roast which is something I enjoy greatly. On the weekends I share meals with another close friend. I cook one night, and she cooks the next. We never know what the other will cook, which increases the expectation.

I have managed to work around my food sensitivities to develop new ways of enjoying food. By re-working old recipes, I can still experience pleasure when I eat. My taste has changed. I no longer look for a rush from sugar. Now flavour is the way I find pleasure in eating. At times I make richer foods and share these with friends to reduce the temptation of overeating.

Why am I telling you this? Because losing weight does not mean denying ourselves what we enjoy. Living healthy means enjoying what we eat and being aware of our body’s reaction to it. We can appreciate food more by savouring the flavour and texture.

In love, Jenny
